Napa Remembered: Favorite Wine Bar

Bounty Hunter Rare Wines and Wine Bar

Part wine bar, part BBQ joint and part wine shop, this is a really fun place to hang out after work for apps and drinks in Downtown Napa. Rugged, yet classy and charming, the big game heads mounted on the walls, indoor/outdoor seating, and polished dark wood tables would appeal to both Davey Crockett and Katherine Hepburn.

They have a top-notch wine list that surprised me the first time I visited...I mean it's just a BBQ place right?! Wrong. We loved the thought-provoking tasting flights, and their bottle list boasts some of Napa's most highly rated and allocated labels.

For the price and quality though, we often opted for Bounty Hunter's own private brands. Jeff's favorite was the earthy powerhouse 2006 Pursuit Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon, and I was a big fan of the bright, Meyer lemony 2008 Streamside Sauvignon Blanc.  If you're looking for something specific though,  the staff is very knowledgable and great at pointing out that hard-to-find Oregon Pinot Noir or Cabernet Franc you may have missed.

As for the food, the BBQ platter is a delicious smorgasbord of meats, and need I say more about the Beer Can Chicken?

In a nutshell, if you want a happening place to hang out, lick the BBQ sauce from your fingers and revel in a wine country hot spot that doesn't take itself too seriously, then Bounty Hunter is where is the real deal.
