Hey there!

We're Jeff & Brittany, two wine-loving travelers (or travel-loving wine-Os depending on the day!) and here you'll find the ins and outs of our journey. We share our best travel tips and must see locations, under the radar wines, hidden restaurants, and hints to taste wine like a pro across the globe. So, fellow Vino Vagabond, grab a glass (or two) and lets hit the road! Cheers!

A Wine Bar in Buenos Aires Worth Visiting

We've been to bars, restaurants and sidewalk cafes, but have had the hardest time finding anywhere with a decent wines by the glass list to expand our palate for Argentine wine.     Most places offer one or two wines by the glass and we were starting to get frustrated. Luckily, we came across a list of the best places to taste wine in Buenos Aires and found what we were looking for.

All the venues mentioned fit our criteria, but Gran Bar Danzon stood out because it supposedly had the best WBG selection in the city, boasted a swanky atmosphere and the dinner menu looked delicious.

Like many places in Buenos Aires, there was no obvious sign marking the entrance, only a chalk board inside the doorway leading up a dim, candle-lit flight of stairs.

Just as we'd hoped, the wine list was exceptional and boasted the widest selection of wines by the glass we'd seen yet.

We started with two whites but preferred the 2008 Tahuan Torrontes. We got Granny Smith apple and wet stone on the nose, and after tasting it, the citrus and oak reminded us of a lemon creamsicle. Amazing with our sushi and Brittany's Summer Salad.

Of the three Malbecs we tasted, the 2005 Navarro Correas Seleccion Del Enologo Malbec was our first foray into aged Malbec and impressed us with its full-bodied complexity. The baked boysenberry fruit and long finish of warm, spiced vanilla paired equally well with the beef Carpaccio we had for dinner and the berry covered cheesecake we had for dessert.

The extensive wine list and seasonal menu coupled with the dim, supper-club vibe made this our best experience with Argentine wine yet...and cost us less than a formal wine tasting for two!
