Road trip! Arizona to Texas
After our Christmas shenanigans in Tucson, we continued our farewell road trip through the Southwestern US. Normally we would have flown from Arizona to Texas, but our adventurous spirit was running high so we took on the 14 hour journey with excitement, snacks and of course some vino for our stopover.
The jagged mountains were a welcome contrast to the seemingly endless desert of Arizona and New Mexico, but the high point of that particular stretch was a guiding omen in the form of a road sign. Another of our many "Wappos", we knew we were on the right track as soon as we saw it...
Petty awesome right? Our inner gangsters were going crazy when we saw that exit! Encouraged by our guiding road sign and in true playa' fashion, we rocked out to Bon Jovi and made our way into Texas.
As we wound deeper into the oil country of West Texas, we finally took our respite in Midland: the land of oil rigs, cattle, and Dairy Queens (see TLG #2)
By the time we got to the hotel, we were tired, smelly and dying for a drink, so we busted out our trusty Go Vino "glasses." and popped a bottle of one of Jeff's favorite Cabs: the 2007 Keever Cabernet Sauvignon.
It's peppery on the nose, but balanced out perfectly by dark, rich, bramble fruit and a warm, spicy finish that hangs on until the next sip. It was just what we wanted after a 12 hours of driving!
